CP - New Arrival, New Responibilities
Jan. 8th, 2007 03:13 pmOne of the great things about this live journal is that I can post artwork and even fanfics that I don’t wanna do in DA or FF.net. So, that said, expect not just behind-the-scenes CP (Chess Piece) artwork, but even little fanfics here and there that I suspect might not make it into the main CP comic:
For this little fanfic…well, while I might have plans to put this segment in the comic in a future issue, it’s merely only a small certain at this time. Anyways, in CP, Vlad, before he had Danny used to travel around the world having adventures (very much like Indiana Jones or TinTin), refusing to be the then next future ruler of Daly Kingdom, not wanting to put in responsibilities that hinders his adventuring. Maddie is his arranged fiancée who loves Vlad, but is often conflicted of her feelings because Vlad keeps selfishly running off (Vlad likes Maddie, too, it just takes a while for him since their first meeting was when he was 13 and she was only 8, so there weren’t much huge feelings for a 13 year to give to an 8 year old then). Abraham (while only mentioned here) is Vlad’s strict, domineering, dictator of a dad.
Vlad is about 24 in here, Maddie about 18-19. Enjoy. New Dalv City in here is basically New York City. The date is around sometime in Spring of 1910.
Dealing with Responsibilities
“I like Danny.”
“Danny? Daniel? Umm…why?”
“Well, it sounds casual, but so…courageous.”
“What? Really? Cuz’ I personally don’t see that!”
“You know, Vlad, you’re not helping.”
“Well, excuse me, I was just having the time of my life, then you announced you’re pregnant with my kid just a couple of weeks ago.”
Maddie was born of noble heritage to the Deblanc family, her grandfather having immigrated from France and since built a glowing reputation to the rich--including the royal family--through a successful fishing business. After all, New Dalv City filled to the brim with water and the oceanic goods swimming inside, ripe for the picking.
Vlad, too was of noble heritage, the noblest in fact--he is the current prince of Dalv Kingdom, a wide nation ruled vehemently and powerfully by his father, the great King Abraham; however his son remained quite the troublemaker, running away for months on ends to have adventures across the world, refusing to partake in anything royal related, and only visiting New Dalv to meet up with Maddie, his arranged bride. Despite that, he still did not enjoy the prospect of having a future child with her, caused through one faithful…passionate incident sometime in November.
“…You know, Vlad, you can just say it.” She spoke with an obvious sense of sadness.
“Say what?” Vlad annoyingly asked.
“That you don’t want this baby.”
Vlad gave off a wide eyed expression and faced away from her, hand nervously behind the back of his head.
“It’s alright, go have your little adventures like you always do.” Maddie sighed, “Your father offered to raise the child with me.”
“…E-Excuse me?” Vlad stood up, having sat on a chair next to the bed Maddie currently lied on.
“Your father fears you will never become the next ruler, but he’s thankful you produced a new heir…even if it was by accident.” Maddie started, “He offered to raise it with me--or knowing your father, he’ll raise it to be of proper royal while I handle the mothering…which I’ll probably get little to do anyways.” Already her future fate did not treat her with any kindness, knowing Abe would remain dominant on the child.
“My father wants to raise MY kid?” Vlad screeched, “Who the HELL does he think he is?”
Vlad’s reaction prompt a smile on Maddie’s lips.
“Why, Vlad, are you concerned for our little baby?”
“NO!” Vlad immediately countered, “It’s just that he WOULD do something like this! Shit me around for his little revenge scheme just because I don’t wanted to be prince!”
“Vlad…”
“Ooh, that bastard thinks he’s SO clever in trying to outdo me, well, I’ll show HIM!”
“So…what? You’re going to help me raise our son together?” Maddie shrugged, despite the hopeful tone in her voice.
“I…I don’t know. Having a kid is nothing but a burden I don’t need.” Vlad bluntly scoffed, “But…god, I’m already feeling sorry for the kid if he’s to be raised by father.”
“It’s not a burden, it’s a blessing, one little Danny will bring.” Maddie smiled, rubbing her belly.
“Stop calling it “Danny!” We don’t even know if the child will be a boy!”
“Okay, fine, Mr. Namemeister, YOU think of a name for our child!”
Vlad let off a devious grin as he pondered for several seconds before snapping his fingers, shouting “Eureka!”
“How about Atticus?”
“…No.” Now it was her turn to be blunt.
“Why not?”
“Vlad, no!” Maddie spouted in a bit of a whiny tone.
“Fine, how about Dimitri or Ace…or…OOH, Vlad Jr.” He chuckled.
“Why only boy’s name? You’re the only constantly stating it could be a girl.” Maddie groaned.
“Fine…umm…Chesty LaRue, Hooty Mcboob…”
“Okay, you’re not taking this seriously and you’re starting to peeve me off!” Maddie turned the other way to face away from him.
“Oh, come on, Maddie, don’t be like that!”
She remained silent however, “Fine, be that way.” Great, just what he needed: moody pregnant woman.
Rubbing his temples, Vlad then reached into the pocket of his black overcoat and fished out a box of cigarette, pulling one out with his mouth. Immediately Maddie eyeballed him when she heard the sounds of clothes shuffling, amusing at first he was undressing himself for--
“VLAD! DON’T YOU DARE SMOKE IN HERE!” Maddie screamed, “I have a KID inside ME!”
“Would you RELAX?” Vlad snapped back, “I’m going to smoke outside. You think I’m stupid enough to smoke in front of a pregnant woman?”
“No, but you’re risky enough.”
“Well, I’m risky, not homicidal.” Vlad then started to leave via the open double door windows that lead to a balcony, taking the vines surrounding the walls of the Deblanc manor to reach the bottom. Once he did, Maddie peeped her head out from her window to now see a dark figure and a small orange glow coming from his now lit cigarette. His face stared back at her’s.
“…You know the due date?”
“The doctor suspect sometime around the summer…August, I believe.”
“…Then I’ll see you in August.” And with that, he left again for another score of adventure and excitement.

Date: 2007-01-08 11:06 pm (UTC)Vlad however, when it comes to his inner demons is that he's rather selfish about it because he runs away from his responibilites and inner demons then face them head on. It takes the death of Maddie to realize what a fool he's been all that time.

Apparently Vlad is a "Desgraciado" (poor devil) in this story, or, as we say here in Mexico: "Es un rajon"... Seriously, he is an idiot for leave Maddie in this condition. Something says to me that he is going to regret this. But he will be a good and under protector father anyway. Sadly all the man are like this, run away from the responsabilities and then... they are with a baby in his arms and they cant´sleep in the night for the baby are crying, Ha, that´s ironic, no?
Well, thanx for the story. I´ts great. Still like that.

Date: 2007-01-10 03:53 pm (UTC)I especially like the ending, where even when he's slightly succumb to being a father, he still shrugs it off until the LAST POSSIBLE MOMENT!
Mwaha. Me likes. :D
