Title: Err...actually, I haven't thought of one yet
Rating: PG-13, mostly for language and sex

Summery: Taking place after the death of Danny's friends and family from the Nasty Burger explosion, we cut to an AU (hey, an AU for an AU) where Vlad denied Danny's request to strip him of his ghost powers and instead fast forward to two years later where a 16 year old Danny discovers life and love over Vlad, the man who helped him in his dire emotional time of need, a love that will progress throughout the years.

Warnings: Mostly the sex, spoilers for TUE (and any DP episodes that comes it's way)
Disclaimer: Danny Phantom is the property of Butch Hartman/Nickelodeon and. This fanfic isn't making any profit of his work and is written just for fun and appreciation of the Vlad/Danny pairing.

Chapter Seven. Vlad takes Danny with him to work. Danny thinks fondly of Vlad whenever the two are alone in an elevator. Danny's birthday is completely made up since the show never stated how old he is (so I used the same date as his CP counterpart). Also, I want some Taco Bell.

Danny found himself staring at the wood boarded ceiling when he awoke, confine to the makeshift room Abe positioned for him should he ever spend the night, a room that once belonged to Vlad.

“Daniel?”

Speak of the devil. Vlad approached Danny, lowering the top half of his body down towards Danny which only furthered Danny’s increasing nervousness that acted up the moment he heard him call his name. Placing a hand on his forehead, Vlad gave off a concerned look, “Well, it’s not any form of sickness.”

“How did I get here?” Danny asked, despite the obvious answer that would follow.

“I brought you here. I had to leave the cows briefly, but you just fainted out of nowhere,” Vlad answered, “It was quite bizarre to say the least. You had me worried there.”

“S-Sorry. How long was I out?”

“Just a couple of hours.” Vlad removed his hand, “What happened? Do you know why you fainted?”

Danny eyed Vlad’s face. With such a weary appearance giving away bagged eyes and some bit of wrinkles he usually never possessed, Vlad looked older and pitiful. That was a face he couldn’t lie to, but his usual conscience wasn’t there at that time to tug his heart in the right direction, instead driven out by the painful lust he held of the man, one he could not bare himself to speak towards him just yet.

“I…I don’t know. It just came out of nowhere.”

Vlad’s only response was an uncomfortabl mixed face, one in which he hoped didn’t lead to his suspicion face.

As much as Vlad refused Danny any herd or farm work due to that incident, both Danny and Abe insisted.

“It’s just a faint, not like it’s gonna kill ‘em!” Abe responded, “You're just making any excuse to get him to avoid your hometown.”

“FORMER hometown.” Vlad emphasized, “Fine, then I’m staying by Daniel’s side at least for the herding.”

“I think he’s in denial,” Danny whispered to Abe, “He really seems to like the farm works.”

August came and went and with it, Danny’s birthday. Turned 17, Vlad’s present typically wasn’t physical in the sense.

“My birthday gift to you is a tour around my building, “Vlad grinned, “My office, the people who work for me, and so on.”

“How does that make me happy or benefit me in anyway?” Danny spoke in sarcasm.

“Well, you’ve gotten a little less naïve and little more intelligent over the years.”

“Gee, thanks.”

“And I figured it’s time.”

“Time for what?”

“Daniel…I don’t have an heir to VladCo.”

“W-What?”

“Let me rephrase that. I have plenty of people to choose lest I don’t have an heir as I’m not dumb enough to ignore a back-up, but I don’t have an heir: a son to govern my company once I retire or unexpectedly pass away.”

“Y-You want to be president of your company when the time comes?”

“That’s my current plan.”

“Dude, you do realize I want to be an astronaut, right?”

“Come now, Daniel. I’m not planning to turn my company over to you right at this moment. For the matter, I want you to come to work with me tomorrow.”

“Vlad…”

“I’m just asking for one tour. I’m not asking you to make any decisions yet. For God’s sake, you’re only seventeen.”

“Alright, fine.” Danny sighed. He figured spending any leisure time with Vlad would make up for potential tedious paperwork and meetings should Vlad somehow felt the need to dump on him.

Danny normally only possessed one suit, the familiar gray wear he chose to don during formal affairs. It was this suit that he first witnessed Vlad Masters and Vlad Plasmius as one being. However, in just the small passage of two years, Danny had outgrown it, so the day before the company tour, Vlad took him to the finest tailors, famed for their Armani suit designs. Danny walked out the store with a new, fitting black suit that mirrored almost ridiculously close to Vlad that it almost scared him.

VladCo shouldn’t have intimidated him. He’s seen the building one too many times across various magazines over time, but it did as the generally high skyscraper paved way for the inexperienced boy. The main floor of VladCo composed of white marble floors and matching walls and ceilings. Everybody, men and women alike moved, typed, scheduled, and organized like puppets with Vlad pulling the strings with just his prideful grin.

“Good Morning, President Masters. And who might this be?” A man, young and at least mid to late 20’s in age approached the two, smiling down on the boy, treating him as if he barely passed preschool.

“This is Daniel Fenton.”

“Oh, yes, I’ve heard of you.” The man gasped, nodding his head while Danny prayed he wouldn’t be one of the umpteenth people to bring about the tragic incident.

“Everyone got your memo that he’d be coming today, Mr. President,” The man continued before eyeing Danny again, putting on a disgustingly sweet smile, “You excited to take over your pop’s work soon?”

“…S-sure.” It irritated him on how sickingly nauseating this man made him feel. He’s seventeen, not seven, and he certainly didn’t like the idea of being referred to as Vlad’s son, not out of past animosity between the two, but the obvious crush he’s kept on the man.

“That didn’t sound very optimistic.”

“Of course my boy is ready. He’s living with me and under my influence. He’ll be in top shape by the time he takes over VladCo. Now, it’s time to get on with the tour.” Vlad put on another prideful grin as he placed a hand on Danny’s shoulder, tingling the boy’s inners.

“Right then, well, I best be getting back to work. It was nice seeing you again, President.”

Danny and Vlad walked past the man and situated themselves next to the elevator, waiting for its access.

“Is that man on some…kind of drug?”

“No, he’s just overenthusiastic about--well, everything.”

“Why did you hire HIM?”

“He’s determined, gets the job done without hesitation.” The elevator lowered after his answer and the two boarded. Alone with many a floor to go and stuck in such a small space with the one he recently admired, Danny automatically held his breath. He gripped onto the bar handles incase he passed out again.

“Daniel, are you alright? You look rather ill.” Vlad leaned in to touch his forehead. Danny jerked away in time, but lost his grip and fell on his behind.

“Daniel!”

“S-Sorry…n-nervous.”

“This place a bit too intimidating?”

“Y-Yeah.” Danny tried to breathe.

“Take it slow,” Vlad kneel down and placed a hand on his back, causing Danny’s breath to worsen. When the elevator reached its destination, Danny bolted and took in large gulps of air. Vlad insisted a trip to the clinic, but he let it be known it was nothing serious, demonstrating further by standing upright, adjusting his tie, and putting on a weak smile. Vlad responded with a sigh and a tired, “Fine.”

For the majority of the day, Vlad merely introduced Danny to the cogs of the workplace and the people who made it all possible, specifically the important, significant people that actually mattered to Masters and not the hundreds of drones of nameless work forces inhabiting the building. He took him room for room on any importance, stopping to rest only for lunch, then he showed him his office, just as huge and wide as his bedroom chamber that the mere sight of seeing nothing but his office desk and a couple of potted plants made it more empty then it really should be. What a waste.

Danny eyeballed the giant window behind his desk, leaning closer to observe the nosebleed-inducing drop below. If this occurred any time before he retained the ability to fly, Danny would be freaked out at such a high sight.

“What do you think?” Vlad asked.

“It seems like a lot of responsibility, more then I could probably do.” Danny answered.

“Well, like I said, it’s not something you need to decide yet.” Vlad softly placed a hand on his shoulder again, “I haven’t even shown you everything yet. Part of the reason being that I don’t feel you’re ready for that phase, the other part due to my mind boggling over that Christmas party I have to host.”

“But Christmas is still months away.”

“Months go by in the blink of an eye, Daniel. Not to mention I do have other business to attend to just as much as the party I have to host,” Vlad sighed, “I don’t really enjoy inviting many people over to my manor, it’s rather overwhelming, although I suppose that's mainly since I’ve somehow gotten use to living alone.”

“Well, that sure didn’t stop you from trying to gain me and mom.”

“I said I’ve gotten used to living alone, not tolerate it,” Vlad corrected, “That said, it’ll do good on a business end towards me--towards us if I can cater to the favor of the business men I’m hosting for in order to acquire their company.”

“Do I have to be at the party?”

“It’s recommended.”

“I see.”

The rest of the day was better spent on Danny helping Vlad with paperwork, the latter giving him trivia questions on what the best solution to said problem would be in order to test his business skills or lack there of. Danny obviously didn’t get most of the questions right, but he was following more on moral instinct then business sense, which required handling a task that sometimes a less then appealing judgment must be made. While Vlad developed immunity over this in time, Danny felt a bit uneasy.

Danny’s patience and tolerance finally came to an end when Vlad finished his workload by eight. After a small chat with a woman in a red suit, Vlad and Danny took the elevator down again. Danny once more set off a nervous glance.

The two of us…all alone, in a small space. This is like every single romance movies ever. Two people inside an elevator. Oh, good lord, the only thing that could possibly happen at this point is if the elevator suddenly broke, trapping the two of us. How stupidly cliché is THAT? But…I’d be alone with Vlad where I could get close to him…or is that coming on too strong? Maybe I should just take it slow and…and…

Out of mere subconscious and complete automatic behavior triggered by his own thoughts, Danny slowly extended his hand and touched Vlad’s, eventually holding it.

“D-Daniel?”

Danny tuned Vlad out, stuck in his own hopes and imagination. He then slowly wrapped his arms around Vlad’s with a dreamy smile. This is nice…is this wrong? I don’t know. I don’t want to know. I don’t care. Please…don’t let this elevator stop.

Of course, it eventually did. Not even stopping in mid lift which Danny half hoped would happen, despite the cheesy quality behind it.

“Daniel, you can let go of me now.” Vlad sighed. Danny reluctantly did so, hiding a sorrow face.

“S-Sorry.”

“That was awfully clingy of you,” Vlad raised an eyebrow, “Almost affectionate--and not in the manner I’d expect.”

“Well…c-can’t a pseudo son hold onto his pseudo father’s hand?” Danny asked.

“You wrapped your arms around me.”

“Kids can do that with parents!”

“Not unless you’re a daughter…or gay.”

Danny let off a gulp, tugging on his tie, tightening it in the hopes he’d spontaneously pass out from it.

“Daniel, is there something you need to tell me?”

“Huh? N-No.”

“Your face states otherwise. Daniel, you can tell me anything.”

“Will you get mad?” Danny asked, knowing at this point, Vlad would not leave him be with his current situation.

“That depends.” Now he pulled on a serious face, suspecting Danny of having done something that he did not approve of.

“Well, on the subject of…gayness,” Danny began, hesitating, but ultimately assuming he should get it over with, “Well…I…”

“What is it, Daniel?” Vlad directly gazed at Danny, his face and tone now switched to concern. God, Vlad, I hate it when you get so worried. It makes this less easier on me!

“I…”

“Are you gay?”

“NO…sorta.”

“Sorta?” Vlad repeated.

“I…kinda found out I swing both ways. You know…both genders.”

“O-Oh.” Vlad quickly placed a hand behind his head and mulled it all in.

“I’m sorry.”

“I don’t see why you’re apologizing, Daniel. You have every right to be who you want to be.”

“You mean it?” Immediately Danny perked up.

“It'll be a bit of an adjustment, yes, but Daniel, I love you, no matter what you do,” Vlad embraced him, if not because he needed the comfort himself from just hearing this bombshell.

To add in his perkiness, Danny gave off the widest smile he could possibly muster while blushing ten shades of red, his face the poster boy definition of “goofy”. When they released themselves, Danny quickly hid his previous smile to give off a more casual appearance. Living with Vlad caused Danny to slowly work on face manipulation.

“Well, I’m glad you got that off your chest. I admit, you’ve been acting quite…feminine lately, lest of all the arm hug just a few minutes ago.”

“Oh, ha ha, funny.” Danny retorted back.

With that out of the picture, Danny, feeling brave wrapped his arms around Vlad again, using his bisexuality as a blatant excuse. Vlad give off a mixed, quizzed look, then gently smiled. He’d figure if Danny would behave in this manner, he’d get used to it…provided he didn’t overdo it.
